Absolutely loved the character and charm of the hotel, the facilities, the lounge area for breakfast/evening drinks, ease of use of the washer/dryer that was there. The hotel was in a quiet residential section of Kyoto, yet access to Nijo Castle, the Imperial Palace and downtown Kyoto was very easy and within a 15 minute walk. Access to the train stations and Uber/Taxi's were equally easy. Amazing local restaurants within walking distance of the Hotel - highly recommend Daigan around the corner for an amazing sushi with an engaging/entertaining/welcoming chef.

The staff waited for us to arrive and assist us with check-in even though we forgot to update them on our arrival timing. The room itself was really nice and comfortable, facilities and heating was really good. Staff was very friendly and the interior design of the room was very traditionally Japanese.

The house was spacious but had a cozy feeling so it felt really comfortable to be in. Also the floor layout had a good balance of features from older houses and modern ones.

Extremely quiet residential neighborhood a short walk from Nijo Station and Omiya station. Bakeries, 7-11, and an excellent ramen shop very nearby. The host was exceptionally kind and thoughtful. It was a truly unique stay with a fun theme.

The hotel was delightful to say the least, all the amenities were lovely and it was clean:) The receptionist was also extremely helpful!

The property looked and felt as the pictures show. The staff were wonderful and very attentive. A true traditional town house that perfectly matches the Kyoto culture. The property was close to many restaurants and cafes. The Macha tea ceremony was great at our Arrival. A bonus.

BenTen Residences offer a Japanese machiya accommodation in the heart of Higashiyama, Kyoto. Yasaka Shrine is 7 minutes on foot, while Kiyomizu Temple is a 14-minute stroll. Takase San bring all the goodness and hospitality were very good we all enjoy stay at shimaya definitely stay again

Situated in Kyoto, 500 metres from Kyoto International Manga Museum,Kyoto Machiya Fukune is an accommodation with a garden. The accommodation has a hot tub. The place is beautiful,it's a traditional japanise house.

Hosts were phenomenal, friendly, neat, and made themselves available to answer any questions and to simply make sure everyone felt at home. The whole place was kept tidy at all times and provided excellent space to meet people. The place was also surprisingly soundproof and offered a nice window into experiencing the city through the design of the hostel.
