The downtown area of St. Louis is in desperate need of redevelopment. Once you are past the Arch and Cardinal Stadium there are boarded up buildings, poor street lighting and no pedestrians out walking. I did not fell unsafe walking.

This city is not that safe, you find yourself walking and there are dangerous people around. Looking at the stay, it was uncomfortable, the people were unfriendly. The city had some dining options that they say are great, but really, if you ever had italian food it is okay. It's not that great, and the restaurants are older and a bit beat up. They close at 9pm on Sat. night. The stop for gas and any food gets you someone at your car begging for money and won't leave, and the person at the drive through McDonalds telling you no onrders are being taken right now. Goofy, strange place.

We went for a Cancer Survivors Celebration, and while there we went b ack to the Museum of History in Forrest Park. It was more than our old broken bodies could handle and we left after two hours. Went to the "HILL", Italian section of town for dinner. We went to Mama's on the Hill and had another great meal. Meals are large, so we share a side salad and an entree. Never an issue, they bring an extra plate. There are numerous other Italian restaurants and we have eaten in several of them. All were good. The Hill is only about 2 miles from the Museum or from Barnes Jewish Hospital, take KingsHighway, prob North maybe west from the Hospital. Watch for signs about the Hill go about 1 1/2 miles or so crossing the two interstate hiways. Turn right off of Kingshighway either on Shaw or Southwest something. Right past a 4 or 5 story U HAUL business!

Despite initial concerns about safety, my personal experience contradicted those worries. I discovered that the area around the Arch and Ballpark Village was safe to walk around during the day, Had mouthwatering tacos and margaritas at Condado Tacos at the Ballpark village. ,To explore further, we opted for Uber rides at night and were rewarded with the breathtaking sight of the Anheuser Busch St. Louis Brewery lights. Explored the St. Louis Zoo, a free and delightful experience. Overall, while some caution is advisable, my trip revealed that with sensible precautions, St. Louis can be a wonderful and safe destination to explore. Will have to check out the botanical gardens on our next visit.

The city is empty. Nothing to do.
The city is empty. Nothing to do. On a Saturday afternoon downtown is empty. No shopping, no bars down town. If you have to go to st Louis, make sure you’re in a nice neighborhood out of centre. There are quite a few.
Many hot food choices for the breakfast. To our surprise, the hotel even provide dinner with wine, beer and various other beverage, which is definitely beyond my expectations and makes me try to book the Drury Inn in my future trips. The staffs of the hotel are super friendly, polite and helpful.
The location of the hotel is convenience for driving to Wash U and downtown of St. Louise but not within walk in distance to these places.
Valet parking with onsite secured lot. Bellman/Doormen available to assist. It was the original St Louis Union Station for the railroad converted to a hotel. Amazing looking hotel. Vintage America. Virtual playground for everyone in the back of the hotel with a Ferris wheel, mini golf, aquarium, carousel, and amazing food options. ALL very secured area. It's a must stay if you're staying for one day or longer.
It was well situated in the downtown area with many attractions close by. The first room we were given was very hot and before we could even call the front desk to ask about the air conditioning, maintenance showed up to fix it. Without issue, they moved us to another room. It was all very hassle-free. The Starbucks on property was perfect and the restaurant has good good and drinks. We had a great stay.
The hotel definitely looked cool, it is right in the middle of downtown, lots of cool architecture to see, and right next to The City Museum which is a must-see attraction for St. Louis. Short 10-15-min walk from the convention center too. They had guards posted in the lobby, which made it feel safer inside, but also conversely it felt more dangerous outside the hotel.
Location of hotel was great for the area of St. Louis we were looking to explore. Very close to Maplewood, The Hill, Museums, and Botanical Garden. It was very easy location to reach being located right next to interstate 44. We did not need access to downtown STL so this was a great location. Employees were top notch.
Great view of the arch (we did pay $50 extra for an arch view room)! Good downtown location. Couldn't be closer to the arch. The lobby is nice and I had no issues with the hotel employees. They were all friendly and helpful.
Location and comfortability were awesome. Traditional downtown style/design was really cool. Nice view of the city. Really close to our destination in Saint Louis. I liked the modern and classic feel to the design.
The location was downtown, not too far from the ballpark downtown. The only issue was trying to get an Uber when leaving different venues, and because of how busy the downtown area was, I was unsuccessful.
clean, pool is CLEAN and hot tub is great, free parking, best stores and restaurants.
this hotel is 20ish min from downtown but offers free parking with stay and is better price than downtown hotels.
The roof top bar was closed for the entire stay as the hotel had low occupancy and the lobby bar was only open one evening when there was a convention downtown, otherwise it was closed.
Great old historical hotel. Everyone I spoke to also loved the place. A couple of bars/food place's local. Great barbeque shack perhaps the best in St Louis within walking distance.
