Staying at Heitan was a lovely experience allowing a calming and relaxed getaway from Xiamen city. It was lovely to drink tea under the trees in the courtyard and to bask in the atmosphere. The staff at the hotel were also very friendly and helpful, they kindly met us at the pier from where our ferry arrived and helped direct us to the hotel. As it was winter solstice, they also kindly made us delicious tang yuan to celebrate.

The building was beautiful, the bed comfortable and the staff were amazing! The lovely guy on reception gave me a great dinner recommendation, then went above and beyond to post some items to my next stop that I’d left behind! So helpful, generous and kind. Hotel is in close proximity to the tourist spots, and I highly recommend staying in the beautiful spot of you have a long layover in Xiamen!

The rooms are modern, big and clean. Area is quiet, couple of minutes away from the beach. The host, Ellie, is probably the best one I have ever had. She is always there to assist you, no matter the time, no matter the inquiry. She does everything to make you feel like a local in the island. Staying in her hotel is a must if you visit Xiamen. Sea view room had excellent views towards Gulangyu, with information of the monuments you can see, as well as some paper and coloured pencils to draw. The decoration is quirky and fun, making reference to the culture and history of Xiamen. Location is very good, close to Zhongshan Rd and short taxi drive to Nanputuo and Xiamen Uni. The hotel receptionist, Lydia Li (guest service manager), was extremely nice and helpful, aiding us to book a tour to the Nanjing Tulou, and was very attentive as well during our stay.
