Breakfast was very typical Swedish which I was hoping for, The buffet style gave a choice of something light, something warm and something in-between. The room service was fantastic too! The Locations was perfectly situated with a 2 minute walk to the Centre of town but still extremely quiet. Great way to fell part of the City without the interruptions and easy to get transport to and from.

One of the best places I've ever stayed. It's not the right place for those who want something luxury but it's the place for people appreciating good taste and home atmosphere. It's former jail, yes, but it's one of the coziest places I've seen. I enjoyed everything: cozy atmosphere, comfortable bed, inner decor, breakfast, easy check in at night. Special thank you for fresh flowers and candles! They really gave the feeling of home. It was so nice to talk to the owner at the end of my stay and to learn the story of family business. Wishing all the best to this nice couple!

My visit to Umeå left me thoroughly impressed with both the city and its people. The city itself is a harmonious mix of modernity and tradition. Umeå is known for its thriving arts scene, and it certainly lives up to its reputation as a European Capital of Culture. Nature lovers will find Umeå a paradise, with its close proximity to lush forests, serene rivers, and the stunning coastline of the Gulf of Bothnia. The city is designed with nature in mind, with plenty of parks and green spaces to explore. The Ume River, which runs through the city, provides picturesque views and is perfect for a leisurely walk or bike ride. But what truly makes Umeå special are its people. The residents of Umeå are some of the friendliest and most welcoming individuals I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. Despite the city’s northern location, the warmth of its people is palpable.     Skellefteå is a town with an intriguing history.

    Skellefteå is a town with an intriguing history. A pretty town on the banks of a large river. The view across the river of the beautiful main church has been obscured by an ugly multi-story parking garage. Who thought up that damaging action? The town is currently in the grips of street optimization. The narrowing of the main East-West street, is questionable and will soon cause traffic congestion. The station is still in place, but no rail traffic goes there apart from goods !! The infrastructure around the railway and station needs to be optimized and take advantage of the existence of a rail link to the rest of Sweden and the outside World.

    It is interesting to learn of its history.

    It is interesting to learn of its history. Stories about the history of the place were fairly easy to find. Also about the Sami heritage. There is a nice walk on the hill. And there is a very friendly cafe which serves good food.

    Beautiful, but geografically not very different from our starting cityin Vasa, Finland. Bars and restaurants were really good. Everything is quite easy accessable, and most places we visited were also wheelchair friendly.

    I stayed 5 days, mid September, for a conference and had...

    I stayed 5 days, mid September, for a conference and had some free time. When it wasn't raining, I enjoyed beautiful walks along the river (4 hour circuit), and I ran to the coast (12 km away), and through forestry roads. Easy returns by public transport as the busses are frequent and accept credit card. I did not need Swedish money at all during my stay. The town museum is a must see, even if small, and you should visit the historical part of town, which is nearby. I confess to only having eaten asian food while in town. I did not identify a restaurant with Swedish food, which I would have liked to try.
