Our stay at Merlin Guest House for four nights was a real delight. It is situated at the east end of Rodrigues and was easy to find in our rental car (about 40 mins from the airport). There is a car park across the road, which meant the car was out of the way of traffic). The room was spacious with a balcony (from which, one morning, i spotted a Rodrigues Warbler) and the bed was comfortable. The real highlight of our stay was the food that was served. There is no menu and just one communal table. All the food is home cooked and excellent (we never had the same dinner twice) using fresh local produce is used (fresh caught fish for example). Eating with other guests is a great experience (even if our poor French meant for the most part we couldn't always contribute). Breakfast was hearty and again used fresh produce - it really set us up for the day! The Guest House is a few minutes from a lovely beach and, by walking a bit further you can reach secluded little bays that are stunning. Colin arranged a trip to Ile Catherine and Ile aux Coco for us and a couple of other guests, which was a real highlight of our stay. The room was very thoroughly cleaned everyday and all the staff were cheerful and friendly. All in all we could not have experienced a better stay and hopefully one day will be able to return.

It’s tremendously exciting for world travelers to find somewhere very special like Rodrigues Island, 600 km east of Mauritius. Even more intriguing is what the accommodation will be like so far from the populated world. The pick-up from the little airport was faultless despite a common Air Mauritius delay and we were greeted at the Blue Room by John who showed us around and settled us in. The accommodation is simple and entirely unpretentious where everything works, including (now wait for it) wifi that yields, another ‘wait for it’, 320 Mbps! Plenty of water for the shower, hot and cold, with uninterrupted power supply. John can make available a car, a robust 4x4, at rates that, as I told him, are far below market rates. The Blue Room overlooks the somewhat distant Indian ocean that is a short drive away in Anse aux Anglais, down the hill. Restaurant-wise, there’s not a hell of a lot going on in Rodrigues but the local village down the hill offers some animation in the way of two okay eateries and a little grocery store. It’s pretty too. So, it’s a great place to stay (without AC but good fans) and highly recommended indeed. Bravo John!

Eagles Nest Residence, que cuenta con vistas al mar, dispone de alojamiento con salón de uso común y terraza a unos 1,7 km de Playa de Grand Baie. Mr & Mrs Jameson were very warm and welcoming. The cottage is situated on the high where the view is spectacular over the ocean. The cleanliness was second to none. Owner was helpful and felt home. It was my first time at the Rodrigues and can strong recommend the Eagles Nest Cottage. It’s spacious and can easier accommodate a family of 5. The cottage has a kitchen facility where you can prepare a good feast if you don’t feel like going out.

Le Shanoa está a pocos pasos de Playa de Gravier y ofrece alojamiento con restaurante, jardín, terraza y bar. Hay wifi gratis. Algunas unidades tienen zona de estar y/o balcón. Amazing location and super nice hosts. Great breakfast & dinner, and a lovely dog!

L'Heritage - Vue sur mer está a menos de 1 km de Playa de Grand Baie y ofrece jardín y terraza, así como alojamiento con aire acondicionado, balcón y wifi gratis. Fabulous location and peaceful place to be. Close to Port Mathurin. Mr Fabien and his wife were so welcoming. The villa had all the amenites required.

Le Paradiso Apartments está a 1,8 km de Playa de Grand Baie y ofrece jardín y zona de barbacoa, así como alojamiento con aire acondicionado, balcón y wifi gratis. The hospitality was very impressive

El Rêve des Îles Guesthouse está situado en Patate Théophile, en la isla Rodrigues, cercano a las bahías de Saint François y de Trou d´Argent. Ofrece estudios con porche. Top host & great breakfast and if you want great dinner as well

El Tigraviers Bed & Breakfast es un establecimiento de gestión familiar ubicado en Graviers, a 11 km de Port South East. Algunos alojamientos tienen zona de estar. Very relaxing stay - room was very comfortable with nice view. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast and dinner are served on site and were very tasty. There's also a good restraurant within walking distance. We rented a scooter from the hotel which was more than sufficient to get around the island. There are beautiful walks that can be done from the area along the coast in either direction.

Le Pandanus se encuentra en Rodrigues Island, a 10 km de Francois Leguat Reserve, y ofrece alojamiento con piscina al aire libre, parking privado gratis, jardín y salón de uso común. I love everything about this place. Great service, clean room with an amazing view of the ocean. The food was great too. Highly recommended
