Our stay at Merlin Guest House for four nights was a real delight. It is situated at the east end of Rodrigues and was easy to find in our rental car (about 40 mins from the airport). There is a car park across the road, which meant the car was out of the way of traffic). The room was spacious with a balcony (from which, one morning, i spotted a Rodrigues Warbler) and the bed was comfortable. The real highlight of our stay was the food that was served. There is no menu and just one communal table. All the food is home cooked and excellent (we never had the same dinner twice) using fresh local produce is used (fresh caught fish for example). Eating with other guests is a great experience (even if our poor French meant for the most part we couldn't always contribute). Breakfast was hearty and again used fresh produce - it really set us up for the day! The Guest House is a few minutes from a lovely beach and, by walking a bit further you can reach secluded little bays that are stunning. Colin arranged a trip to Ile Catherine and Ile aux Coco for us and a couple of other guests, which was a real highlight of our stay. The room was very thoroughly cleaned everyday and all the staff were cheerful and friendly. All in all we could not have experienced a better stay and hopefully one day will be able to return.

El Blue room view se encuentra en Port Maturin, a menos de 1 km de la playa de Grand Bay, y ofrece alojamiento con vistas al jardín, wifi gratis y estacionamiento privado gratuito. It’s tremendously exciting for world travelers to find somewhere very special like Rodrigues Island, 600 km east of Mauritius. Even more intriguing is what the accommodation will be like so far from the populated world. The pick-up from the little airport was faultless despite a common Air Mauritius delay and we were greeted at the Blue Room by John who showed us around and settled us in. The accommodation is simple and entirely unpretentious where everything works, including (now wait for it) wifi that yields, another ‘wait for it’, 320 Mbps! Plenty of water for the shower, hot and cold, with uninterrupted power supply. John can make available a car, a robust 4x4, at rates that, as I told him, are far below market rates. The Blue Room overlooks the somewhat distant Indian ocean that is a short drive away in Anse aux Anglais, down the hill. Restaurant-wise, there’s not a hell of a lot going on in Rodrigues but the local village down the hill offers some animation in the way of two okay eateries and a little grocery store. It’s pretty too. So, it’s a great place to stay (without AC but good fans) and highly recommended indeed. Bravo John!

La Belle du Sud se encuentra en Port Mathurin, a 13 km de la reserva Francois Leguat y a 2,5 km del jardín de Cinq Sens, y ofrece zona de playa privada y vistas a la montaña. El Eagles Nest Residence se encuentra en Port Maturin, a 1,7 km de la playa de Grand Bay y a 17 km de la reserva Francois Leguat, y ofrece salón compartido y aire acondicionado. Mr & Mrs Jameson were very warm and welcoming. The cottage is situated on the high where the view is spectacular over the ocean. The cleanliness was second to none. Owner was helpful and felt home. It was my first time at the Rodrigues and can strong recommend the Eagles Nest Cottage. It’s spacious and can easier accommodate a family of 5. The cottage has a kitchen facility where you can prepare a good feast if you don’t feel like going out.

El Létan Lontan se encuentra en Latanier. Esta casa tiene jardín y estacionamiento privado gratuito. The host (Maya) was very accommodating. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.

Le Shanoa es un alojamiento con terraza situado en Port South East, a 1,7 km de la playa de Grand Anse. El alojamiento está situado en primera línea de playa y cuenta con restaurante, bar y jardín. We liked everything about this place, the atmosphere is unique and it's right next to the best beaches. You sleep in a little adorable house and Fred and Clara are taking care of you to have the most pleasent stay. Delicious breakfast and we also tried greate home made dinner. And what's convenient they have also motorbike to rent if you want to see the other parts of the island.
