A quit place with few restaurants and cafes (and some of them are exceptional, eg. a cafe Ferris serves great cornetti, a local gelateria Riva Reno by the street going to the main square - offered very good ice cream, Made Colico restaurant prepares one of the best pizza but it is worth to try menu degustazione as well. Apart from food there are some places to visit like Forte Montecchio Nord which can visited only with a guide (totally worth it) or a longer trip to Fort Fuentes. Piona Abbey is worth visiting (a bit difficult to get to without a car). And of course Varenna (with it villa Monastero, but the town itself is also worth seeing).

tried the recomended restaurants but found them not to my liking
then found a family run restaurant at the end of the piazza and started to enjoy the real food of the place.
as it rained every single day we were there we did not do too much exploring but watching the cloud formation on the mountains surrounding the town was mesmering.
brilliant if you want to just relax, but as the boats run frequent you can move well.

We had only booked to stay 3 nights in Colico in April.
We had only booked to stay 3 nights in Colico in April. Out of season the town is quiet but there are walks and ferry rides to several locations around the lake. We found places to eat. It would be very busy in high season we suspect. Ideal for those who want to see large areas of water with mountain scenery and wildlife. There was a lot of snow on the mountain tops in April.

Colico is great place to stay if You want easily get to different towns on this side of lake Como in different days.
Colico - Chiavenna lets You go to very north, on a train Colico - Lecco You can reach Bellano, Varenna...from Varenna by ferry to Bellagio.
You can hike the mountains near the Colico - even to get to Monte Bassetta to see the alpine cows with bells on their neck, which make unbelievable sound! That feeling! If we could read before we get there that it is possible to buy also the cheese there :D, we would not be afraid to interrupt those cows :)
You can do windserfing, take a bike and go around the city. Evening walks are just great also.
Love this place <3

This is a great town if you want to avoid the tourist masses in the south of Lake Como. There are a number of restaurants in the heart of the town, supermarkets, and great access to the lake (with grass to lie down on!). Tip: visit Val di Mello - ideally not during the weekend (it gets very crowded then!).
Eleonora was a very friendly and professional host. Our accommodation was immaculate, very spacious and the facilities are fantastic, especially the jacuzzi spa area. We had breakfast one of the mornings and it was delicious and is very good value. The location is also great, a short stroll to several cafes and restaurants. There is also a supermarket and pharmacy in walking distance. The ferry terminal is very near too and Eleonora kindly printed off and highlighted the timetable for me. We loved our stay in Colico and hope to be back again.
The location of this little bungalow was fabulous, with a view over the lake in the quiet area of Colico, at the top of Lake Como. At the end of a campsite it offered a safe place to park the car and had everything we needed for a one night stop over. It was actually so comfortable we stayed and extra night, with a walk along the beach to a selection of restaurants and a water bus to visit other towns around the lake. The lake was shallow some way out and great for swimming. The hosts were friendly and helpful.
Great location right at the top of lake Como. The rooms are right on the lake with great views, your own loungers and access to 2 pools. Loved that it was adults only. Rooms are clean and what you would expect from a standard room (not huge). The restaurants in the square nearby was some of the best food we had in Italy. Loved the relaxed mood compared to some of the other towns. Breakfast was nice (pretty standard). Would definitely recommend if you are looking to relax
Unique location, Italy at its best! Giovanni is a great host and we loved the house, the nearby beach (3 min walk through the forrest) and the quiet location. Piona beach (1 km) is an excellent windsurfing site, Collico offers bars, restaurants, grocery shopping and two windsurfing schools. Hiking on the ersten shore of the lake is nice (good accessability by car and great views down to the lake).
Accomodation is located in a calm neighborhood. Provided room had a balcony overlooking the mountains and lake Como. Room was very spacious and impeccably clean!
Owner has made us feel like home, she gave us great recommendations on what ro visit (actually composed a full day itinerary for us), where to eat and how to get around! Definitely will book it for my next trip to Como.
Apartment is on a quiet street at the very end of the old neighborhood of Colico, with traditional homes in various states of renovation-dilapidation. This one has been well-maintained, and has all necessities - including insect screens (important in the evenings). The morning views and birdsong are lovely, and I enjoyed a stroll through the neigborhood.
Room was rather good, maybe slightly tight. The furniture and bathroom were not in perfect conditions, slight refreshing is desirable. The best rooms are with garden view. We choose lake view and this was mistake. Pool was closed.¨, but pool area is very impressive. The location is outstanding: near to lake, no roads with noise.
Its a small hotel with lovely traditional decor. We had the large double room which had a huge double open window overlooking the beautiful lake views. We walked around the local area in the evening and had stunning views of the lake. The restaurant serves a variety of foods and a large wine/drink selection.
The place is really charming, the hostess is great, the room was big, clean and nice design and of course the balcony with a beautiful view of the lake :) Great place to stay while visiting Lake Como. Also, dinner at the hotel's restaurant was very good and tasty. Definitely will come back.
This is a beautiful property and location. It was even nicer than the pictures and so comfortable. It’s a really special spot in the mountains with a great view, and Colico is a cute town. The hosts were very responsive and so welcoming. We wish we had stayed longer. It was perfect!
location. stunning. up high. off main route. little village with shop right opposite. beautiful views of lake como. great shower and bed. breakfast was great. the host was superb. very friendly and helpful. nearby town of colico was beautiful. great restaurants and walks.
The hotel is quite small and located neear the main road of Colico. The staff are very polite and quick to serve you. The rooms are big and beds are comfortable. The shower are big and shining clean. The breakfast was served with fresh bread and fine omelet.
Breakfast was great with fresh scrambled eggs and good italian coffee. Once we worked out the airconditioning the room was also cool (it was extraordinarily hot during our stay). Colico has a couple of great grass beaches, that's a rarity around the lake
The view is stunning as the B&B is located on the hill, very good breakfast and friendly, helpful host. Quiet area. You can admire the beautiful view of Lake Como while having breakfast. The room was very pleasant, it was cozy and clean.
We loved our stay at Colico. The hotel was welcoming, very clean, and in an excellent location. Really delicious breakfast. Good recommendation for diner at the lake from the hotel.
Perfect location in the heart of Colico with a view to Lake Como. Many restaurants nearby plus hosts offer discount in one of them. Paid parking available nearby apartment.
I've stayed in 7 hotels in Italy during my current trip and never ever had such a bad experience. Nothing to like about this hotel. Highly recommend avoiding this place.
