June and Geoff were gracious hosts and made me feel very welcome. Breakfast is generously portioned, hearty and filling. The rooms are spacious and very beautifully appointed. June's international art collection helps to provide a cultured atmosphere. I also greatly appreciated being able to dry out all of my wet kayaking clothes above the fire nightly!

Loved everything about our stay. Beautiful gardens, fantastic food, all the comforts one could wish for and both Chris and Scott were really friendly and delightful hosts, no to mention their cooking was out of this world. Nothing was too much hassle and we would have loved to extend our stay. Definitely would return there at some time in the future.

A remote country town, with most of the usual facilities etc. Good river activities. Great railway history with good historical displays, museum. One of the best RSA's with a good restaurant. Handy to the mountains and snow, consequently the temperature is colder than average.

Only stopped here as a base to start Highway 43 The Forgotton Highway the following morning. Good well stocked new supermarket New World, friendly helpful staff. The Forgotton Highway over to Stratford is worth doing, not as fearsome a drive as some online accounts would have you believe. Choose a fine day though, it poured down at times on our trip, usually coinciding with where the best alround vistas were.

With limited Dining facilities in Taumaruni, the in-house restaurant provided good meals that were ample in size, with plenty vegetables accompanying a tasty smoked salmon meal. No other restaurants in the town to speak of. Grounds of the Motel appeared to need some maintenance as looked unkempt

The very cheerful and helpful lasses in the Information Bureau. The delicious dinner at the Thai restaurant. Walking in the rain under the verandahs with an umbrella to fill the gaps and read the history about Taumaranui.

Taumaranui was a great place to stay for a night, we were surprised by the variety and availability of eating places for dinner, especially having access to the RSA when we are not members. Breakfast options were limited but this was not a major problem for us. The community was friendly and we felt safe and welcome

Our stay felt personal as we were treated like family. We were greeted at the car park and welcomed then led through a beautiful garden to the house entrance where we shown the facilities and our room. We were left to our own requirements, quiet reading time, trips to sights, great Thai restaurant meal then back to the lodge. It was like coming back to a top class hotel. We opened a bottle of wine and asked the hosts to join us and great conversation was had. A perfect and restful stay.

It had all the facilities that I needed as a Pitt stop while traveling long distance on a budget. Including air conditioning, fridge, stove, wifi etc and it was spacious and the car could be parked right in front of the room wjhich was a blessing as I was super tired from my travels. I found the sound of traveling trucks on the motorway outside to be quite soothing and put me to sleep like a baby in a car.

Ideal for what we needed, it was a shame about all the roadworks outside. It was difficult making contact with anybody at the hotel at the initial booking stage. However once contact made everything was really good. Thanks
