The excellent location.the beautiful town centre with its lit up buildings and fountains for an evening stroll is a must.
The hotel was very good value, clean and our duty manager that night was very helpful.
His restaurant recommendation was perfect. Find it located in town Square above the lit up azulajos panels. Hotel parking wasn't a problem.

The room was very large and well-equipped, and the decor, although dated, had a certain charm. Had very tasty home-style dinner in the piano bar. Breakfast buffet was superb with extensive range of hot and cold items including bacon, cakes, pastries, cereals, cheese, ham, fresh juices. Staff were really helpful, including allowing us to have our breakfast before the official start time because we had to leave really early. Pool looked lovely, but unfortunately didn't have time to use.

Viseu is a very nice town, not too big so easy access to monuments etc. Heavy rain forced my wife & I to seek temporary shelter in a small cafe. The wine was 1 Euro for a “Kimi” pour (quite a large portion). We stayed until well after the rain stopped!

Viseu is a charming, walkable, old city with a good balance of old charm and modern amenities. The cathedral area, for example, is within walking distance of a shopping mall, which is near the bus station. It seemed like there was a good cultural buzz as well, with several musical and film events taking place in the park and around town, indoors and out. The Casa Conselheiro Alfonso de Melo museum, right in city center, showcases---for free entry-- the writer's good-sized personal collection of Portuguese Post-Impressionist paintings, furniture, ceramic dish sets, and various other home objects d'arte. From there, a 15-minute walk through the narrow, cobbled streets of Old Town brings you to the cathedral and Nacional Museum Grāo Vasco, the gift shop of which offers a huge book selection, some in English and other languages. There are manors and gardens worth visiting outside the city as well, I understand, but they require some private transport.

The recommended tags isn't letting me put WINE as a category for recommendation. Viseu is the centre of Portugal's best wine region. Not it's best known, but its best nonetheless. That's why we went. We were pleasantly surprised by the charming city, the good food, the cleanliness, the friendly people and the history, but we genuinely just went there for the wine, and we weren't disappointed.

It’s a really beautiful place, people are friendly.
It’s a really beautiful place, people are friendly. There are great day trips to be done eg Serra da Estrela, and in the summer river beaches and lakes to help pass the hot days. Not far away is the small village of Santar, worth visiting and have lunch at Paços dos Cunhas, where the set daily menu is excellent. Viseu is easy to get around on foot. There are some great places to Eat too. The linen museum is worth a visit, as are some local wineries - Quinta do Perdigão is a small winery run by José and Vanessa. Vanessa is English and an artist. You can taste wine and learn about the grapes.

The town seems nice enough, with a number of semi-interesting sights to see but the PARKING, what a nightmare. Way to many cars, way too few parking spots and parking lots. What happened to carpooling, riding the bus, a bicycle, save the environment, all that stuff. Not in Viseu. Everyone drives their own car apparently, some might drive two. Very frustrating place to try to navigate around.
The hotel is well run and is older, but clean. The room itself was cold when we entered and the temperature did not go up after raising the thermostat. I'm not sure if there was a heating option on the a/c, but I did not find it. I suppose I could have gone down to reception to ask about the heating, but we were going to be in bed soon anyways. The breakfast in the morning was good and our overall experience was also good.
Beautiful hotel with history and character.
Comfortable bed and room.
Aircon worked well, good room size, safe and tea, coffee making - they kindly provided a kettle when we asked
Everywhere very clean
Hotel parking available off the street
Staff very friendly and helpful.
History of the building well documented
Owner very proud and happy to explain the history and show people around.
We had a wonderful stay here, the room was spacious and had a great view over the gardens at the front. Very comfortable lounge area too. Check in was smooth and all the staff we encountered were very friendly and efficient. The area is very central and close to a lot of bars/restaurants and cafes. Also a short walk, around 10 minutes, from the bus station.
The best stay of all, on our trip to north Portugal. Dona Teresa, is a very welcoming host and showed us around the very interesting building. Everything is recently renovated in chic style and decorated witn antique furnitures. We had our breakfast outside the kitchen in the sun, overlooking the roofs of the houses around us in the old jewish quarter.
Best hostel I've been to in Portugal !! Very very clean - the toilet, the rooms, they clean very thoroughly, every day, and it feels very clean and cozy.
Breakfast was also very nice, and for a fair price. Staff was very warm and welcoming, I highly recommend this place to anyone coming to Viseu!
I hope to be back one day :)
An unusual place in that there are very well done sitting rooms sprinkled throughout.
The renovation was excellent of everything is freshly painted.
Viseu was an unexpected delight and there was a roof top bar (something we always look for) right across the street!
This hotel has lovely views and modern clean rooms. On arrival we had a beer on the patio and were greeted by Jonathon and his mate. The staff were very helpful and we had an excellent meal. Breakfast was very good all in all a very good stay.
A beautiful Pousada and excellent value for money. Biggest room, bed and window in the whole of our trip.
Excellent food and service, good car park.
Would give it 11 if possible.
Viseu is a nice little town to explore.
Such a good stay that we had here. Great TV, bed, pillows and shower. The location is perfect. And.. an amazing breakfast! - Free parking after 2pm of Saturday and full Sunday right in the street of the hotel.
This was a fairly basic hotel but offered a nice balcony, included breakfast and generally comfortable accommodations. It was a short walk to the central plaza and several nice restaurants and cafes.
The hotel was in a quiet location, and was peaceful.
The room was clean and furnished adequately. The view was over the street.
The breakfast was tasty, with a good selection of different foods.
Very nice hotel in a lovely setting - easy walk to all the main sights. Very friendly and helpful staff. Wonderful buffet breakfast with large variety. Convenient and free parking on premises.
