Candelas do Souto is a lovely converted farm house. It has lots of charm from the outside and is modern and clean inside. There are areas inside the property that show parts of the buildings history and old working life. There is a small but beautiful garden at the back of the property that is perfect for relaxing in.

First of all, the staff was very kind. We arrived later in the evening and we stayed there only one night. The receptionist said since we arrived late and couldn't enjoy the possibilities of the quinta, after check-out we can still come back to try the pool or eat a dinner in their restaurant. That felt like a very nice gesture. The quinta itself was really beautiful, the view from our room was perfect the windows looked to the river! The design was amazing, too. Tim's terrace had a great tapas and the breakfast was also amazing!

The place is fantastic, better than we expected! Great staff and warm welcoming, they service us their homemade excellent port when we arrived. The room is very spacious and charming with elegant antique furnitures, great atmosphere! The dinner was amazing! Great food and wine, they were very kind to serve us with another pre-drink of port, lots of great red wine during the dinner and with a 40years port after dinner. Breakfast is also nice and fresh! The owner was very welcoming, need to use google translate, as Portuguese is the only language... She also runs a small cafe shop, just across the street. There is a large swimming pool - it was too cold for us, but if you arrive in hot days, it looks great.
