Gepflegtes, sauberes Zimmer, unkomplizierter Check in
Located on the banks of the Fulda River in Germany’s Hessen region, Kassel was re-built after World War II where most of the city’s architectural history was destroyed. Although alot was destroyed, Kassel still features many prominent landmarks such as Königsplatz Kassel, which is a public square, the astronomy and physical cabinet of Orangerie and the splendid Town Hall Kassel.
Separating the city from the surrounding Hawk Forest is the stunning Wilhelmshöhe Palace and its adjoining Wilhelmshoehe Bergpark which features picturesque gardens, museums and the Ball House at the Wilhelmshoehe Palace.
Kassel has a variety of dining and entertainment options from the traditional Brauhaus to local and international restaurants, to appealing bars and cafés in the vicinity of Königsplatz Kassel.
The must-see museums of the city are the 18th-century Kunsthalle Fridericianum, the oldest public museum in Europe, and the famous fairy-tale Museum Brothers Grimm, who once called Kassel home.
Booking.com offers a variety of accommodation options in Kassel and across the Hessen region. Kassel Central Station offers direct routes to cities such as Frankfurt, Warburg and Eichenberg.
Attractive smaller city. It's almost unknown in Britain, but it has a five-year modern art festival called Documenta, which we had never heard of, lots of other attractions and green spaces - the Bergpark is a 'must' - and the people seem friendly. Then we spent our final day in ghastly Frankfurt, and wished we had stayed in Kassel.

The Weihnachsmarkt had a very nice atmosphere with good food and drinks. The city center has all the usual shops. Grimmwelt is a very extensive museum with a nice (but expensive) restaurant.
The annoying thing about Kassel is that they close a lot of things during certain periods of time. This is the second time we went and the planetarium was closed on both occasions (March and December). The Marmorbad was also closed. In March a few of the museums were closed.
If you want to go for a swim we recommend the Auebad. Mind, though, that the slides close in the evening (Kassel tradition, I guess?).

City itself is not so remarkable, but the downtown area and the Christmas market are nice. We stopped briefly at the Grimm World Museum but didn't have time to go through it. We found some good restaurants.

I've been to Kassel three times, each time for Documenta.
I've been to Kassel three times, each time for Documenta. I love the city, though it's hard to put into words exactly why. It has a great mix of the modern and the old (though mostly modern, because of its being unfortunately bombed during WWII), and lots of greenery (parks etc). Great public transportation. Lots of cultural stuff going on.
On the other hand, I think they should improve their bicycle lanes: they're often mixed use on the sidewalk, but it's not always clear where (or if) the bicycles should be riding.
We liked the apartment’s setup and location. For three people, there was plenty of space for cooking and hanging out. Everything was clean and well prepared.
The location was ideal for us, very close to both Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe train station and to the tram so it was easy to go west to the Bergpark or east to the city center.
The communication with the hosts was also helpful and usually quick.
Great hotel for the Kongress Palais, just a minutes walk. There's a tram stop outside for exploring the city. The service was spot on with friendly but unobtrusive staff. The onsite restaurant was great, breakfast had a huge variety and everything was tasty. The evening meal was not priced higher than local restaurants and the food was so good. Would stay here again.
The most outstanding feature of this property by far is its location: Just a few steps from the Königsplatz, the hotel really is right in the center of Kassel.
Other than that, everything else was very basic: A small room, single bed, simple bathroom, and no real amenities to speak of. If you're looking for a place to sleep an not much more, then teatro is fine.
I chose this hotel as a stop on a road trip from south Germany to north. As it is right next to the A7 motorway, it was only a small detour from my route. The hotel is very well organized. The room was very quiet and clean. Bathroom was fully functional, even though it is an old building. There is a huge parking lot available. Breakfast was standard, but tasty.
The property was excellent and our host the most polite and accommodating. The location was very good ... just a short drive from the city center and next to a Biergarten. So easy to get some good German food, a pint of lager and walk straight to bed. Plenty of places to park the car and the area looked very safe. Highly recommended for when you visit Kassel.
1. It was a really affordable price for one night.
2. You don’t feel the pressure of the staff as it is just one person who manage it and was friendly.
3. You don’t need to keep on mind too much Hotel rules as it looks like an Airbnb apartment.
4. Staff can speak in English without any problem.
5. The location is pretty good, near of it is the city center.
There is a tram stop (Leuschnerstraße) right outside the hotel (50m), which is very convenient to reach the inner city as well as other points of interest and further transport connections. There is a shopping mall (dez Einkaufszentrum Kassel) within walking distance (400m).
There is no more central place in Kassel, other than a tent on the tram station :-) A nice view over the city, very close to all the tourist attractions. The Hotel is brand new, very clean, fully automated (no keys are needed - all doors can be opened through a webpage/app).
The hotel staff offers a pass for local transportation which proves invaluable at returning to the hotel at a moment's notice. It is also worth noting that there's a very clean private bathroom for guests right next to the lobby that is a life-saver for us elderly folks!
Late booking due to original hotel closed from holiday (despite being booked months before). Breakfast good room fine only downside Bar and restaurant closed on the Saturday night of stay. Not knowing Kassel this was very inconvenient.
Great location from motorway on the way through Germany. Parked car directly opposite property. Great communication with the host about keys etc. And it had all we needed for a quick overnight stay. Perfect value for money.
It is a very decent 3 star hotel 15 mins by foot from the city center. The breakfast terrace is super nice, and the staff is helpful and friendly. The room cost is unexpectedly high during documenta exhibition.
Very adorable hotel in a quiet part of Kassel. Very close to the castle. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The room was immaculate. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone.
The convenient location and the ticket included in the hotel price means that you can get anywhere very quickly from the hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast is good, and the price is also okay compared to other hotels in Kassel. Reception is only open Monday to Friday 6:30am - 10pm, Saturday-Sunday 7:30am - 6pm.
