The best thing about Portland are the family members who live there; they are the reason for our visit.
We do enjoy going to many sites in Portland including the various gardens: Rose Garden, Chinese Garden, Japanese Garden, Pennisula Garden, Rhodendron Garden, and just walking around neighborhoods seeing the beautiful trees and plants. Powell's Bookstore is a must. We went to a Thorn's (women's Pro soccer team) game. It was exciting. There are many good food options in Portland. We like the zoo and of course there are many sites nearby to visit including a plethora of "falls" like Multinoma and Bridal Veil.
The beauty of the city is blighted by homeless camps which lead to much litter, etc.

Portland, you're a breath of fresh air, reminiscent of my beloved Calgary with your mellow pace of life. Yet, you offer a gentle winter, free from the icy grip that defines our seasons. Your embrace of the LGBTQ community and the effortless kindness of your residents have been a revelation, challenging the media's portrayal with a beautiful reality. A heartfelt shoutout to Moxy Portland Downtown for their uniquely fabulous vibe and warm hospitality. You've been the highlight of our journey. As we conclude our road trip across the US Pacific Northwest, it's clear—Portland, you're the perfect finale. 🌲✨

We enjoyed the area around our hotel, very much.
We enjoyed the area around our hotel, very much. It was the Northwest section of Portland. It was by Old Town and by China Town. It was also close to the waterway path, along the River. It felt safe. It felt up-lifting.

I enjoyed the city however do not recommend walking at night downtown. The Ghost tour was not worth the time however the restaurants and food trucks were amazing. Highly recommend Hawthorne Asylum Food Cart Pod and the Japanese Gardens.

Enjoyed the nature and greenery.
Enjoyed the nature and greenery. Went to Providence Park for Timbers soccer match and would highly recommend. I liked Washington Park with the Japanese Gardens and Rose Test Gardens. Liked walking around Powell's Books. Really enjoyed walking around NW District neighborhood, and eating at Sweet Bacon Cafe and Scottie's Pizza Parlor. Recommend staying at Inn at Northrup Station in NW District or the Tiny Digs Hotels in Kerns neighborhood in East Portland. Enjoyed Screen Door restaurant at East Portland. Trail Blazers Basketball game at Moda Center was fine.
There is a lot of homeless and possible drug use around downtown Pearl District. Never felt threatened or in danger but definitely need to be cautious.

I came up for the afternoon to look at an item I may purchase. Portland is a pretty area, but I did not take in any of the sites: no time to.
If you have to stay over night AVOID the
airport Shilo Inn!!
such great staff and delicious breakfast. Mike catered to my allergy needs happily and squeezed fresh orange juice for the diners. the front desk came outside to find me when I couldn’t find the parking garage entrance and led me in. the room and hotel in general were nice and quiet, got a great nights sleep. rooms were nicely appointed and super clean. convenient bus stop right outside to go wherever you want in downtown Portland. also not too many sketchy people around like other parts of Portland these days.
The staff was so friendly and helpful and even let us check into our room several hours early. We enjoyed the free waters and pineapple cookies and took advantage of the $10 daily snack cart credit. We didn’t have time to take advantage of the bikes but that was a nice option to have. Parking was on site and was cheaper than most downtown hotel options. The hotel felt very safe despite being in a rough looking downtown neighborhood. I also liked their cute pineapple theme throughout.
This is one of my absolute favorite hotel to stay at in Portland. The employees are always incredibly accommodating and friendly. They were even kind enough to let me stay in my room for an extra hour or so as I was waiting for a ride to the airport. The front desk is almost always staffed by someone understanding and helpful. I also LOVE that they have a 24hr pool, hot tub, sauna and fitness center (although not the most impressive equipment.)
Scott and Amy are always kind and helpful to me every time I stay at the Sure Stay (Best Western) 4th avenue downtown Portland Oregon. Both are professional and seem to go above and beyond to assist and accommodate my needs whenever I stay there(which is often 😎🙂) I recommend the Best Western Sure Stay without hesitation whatsoever and strongly suggest it to anyone who is in the greater downtown Portland Oregon area budget or not.
Bathroom renovated recently. Easy 20 minutes walk to cross the Burnside bridge to downtown Portland. Yes, there is nightclub sharing the parking lot however we didn't notice any noise from the club. We stayed in corner overlooking NE10th and NE Couch. No one touched our roof box during our four nights stay. Clean rooms. Good breakfasts in East Portland within 10-15 min walk.
This completely renovated, vintage hotel has been masterfully crafted for maximizing room space and comfort. The room wasn't large, but it was fabulous! We really liked how clean and beautiful everything looked. We loved the location for downtown walkability to local breweries, the food court pod (Hawthorne Asylum), etc., but the location also had a downside.
Small but comfortable room, but what you'd expect from a downtown hotel in an older, historic building. The bed was one of the best and most comfortable I've experienced in any hotel. There were a lot of nice restaurants and coffee shops in walking distance and I felt very comfortable walking in the area at night.
Beautiful property located right downtown Portland. Beautifully furnished room, with comfortable bed, big tv screen, full of amenities and very spacious. Big bathroom as well with both shower and bath tub. Breakfast was not included but it was really good and fairly priced at the Taverna down the hotel.
Beautiful old hotel in a brilliant location.
Lovely and attentive staff, huge room with comfortable beds and furnishings. Several divers food options around the corner and downtown Portland at your doorstep.
I loved it so much I booked a weekend for my brother and sister in law a couple weeks later.
Easily accessible to Portland's downtown, many bars & restaurants close-by, or choose the hotel's Bottle & Kitchen. Ample paid parking, a clean room/facilities, nice shower/bathroom, comfy bed, fluffy duvets, and a plesant view over Naito Parkway to the green space along the Willamette. But...
The Ace hotel is an excellent place to stay. The location was wonderful. Shops and restaurants within a couple blocks. Super safe neighborhood, easy street parking, and the cutest interior. We slept so well and loved our stay in Portland.
Great spot in downtown Portland. Loved the amenities (especially in the bathroom). Never bothered with the on site restaurant since there are plenty of cheaper options in the area, but I appreciated the food/snack credit.
Very nice retro style hotel on the edge of the Pearl District. Only a 15 minute walk to several great Portland neighbourhoods. Trolly goes by the front for rides to downtown, can’t beat this location.
Nice, stylish hotel in a good downtown location just a short walk from multiple transport options, including the MAX Red Line from the airport. Really friendly staff.
Good services and amenities. Best hotel coffee and tisanes. Perfect location for Portland downtown. All the rooms all well equipped. Breakfast is only continental.
