Guesthouse En er sumarhús í Maki, Shiga. Næsta stöð er JR Omi-Hachiman-stöðin, sem er í 12 mínútna akstursfjarlægð. Eldhúsið er með örbylgjuofn og brauðrist. The home was beautiful and comfortable. The neighbourhood was quiet and peaceful. The hosts were helpful, friendly and kind. Everything we needed was provided. We were picked up at the train station and were able to pick up supplies on the way to the home. We had a very relaxing stay even though it rained the entire time. The host took us site seeing on the way back to the station and shared knowledge about the area and history. We had a fun time!

A beautiful, historical building set in the old part of Ōtsu, I spent here a night before heading to Kyōto. The staff is friendly and competent, breakfast was abundant and tasty.

We were treated like VVIP Location - beautiful landscape and close to convenience shops and Daiso Room - very clean and spacious. The pillows were so comfortable. Our neck pain from the previous hotel's poor bedding went away after our first night stay. They use the maruhachi pipe and feather pillows. The massage service is very reasonably priced and great masseuse. I had sprained ankle for a week and after the massage it almost gone away. Not sure what he did but quite different to remedial massage. Soothing, relaxing, minimal pain with maximal gain. The most relaxing massage I had. Onsen - great. Private onsen available at a cost. Our toddler was a bit upset when we were checking out. The staff gave him a little soft toy. Very nice touch though we don't expect anything from them after the amazing stay . Great souvenir shop featuring local crafts.

We booked this property with a bit of hesitation as there were very few reviews on booking.com and we didn’t regret it a second! It is in a very peaceful residential area, quiet, restful night’s sleep is guaranteed which was very important to us. The house is warm and cosy as we had a bit of a cold weather it was important. We felt at home and had a great base to explore the city of Kyoto, Otsu and all the surrounding area. There’s everything you would need in a household and more. There’s also a nice garden which we couldn’t use due to the cold weather. The owner is a very sweet attentive lady and a great host who took care of every single need of us, so that we felt like staying in a friend’s house. With or without car this accommodation is a great choice to escape the crowds of Kyoto and yet be in 25 min distance to downtown Kyoto. We stayed there for 10 days and explored the whole area. I cannot recommend Sayo’s place enough! I would love to come again sometime.

The homely hospitality by the sincere owner & his mother truly touch our heart! the house is big enough for us & complete with all the ameneties needed. Aunty served us rice balls every morning using the rice they grown themselves & it's yummms! my kids love the oldschool game set prepared for us. Fujiwara san is truly a person who serves wholeheartedly with personal touch. He is thoughtful & love our kids by preparing all the goodies & snacks at times. we love the hanabi(fireworks) prepared & had a good time! i've been visiting Japan more than 15times in 10yrs, but this is the place that i miss most with their homely hospitality & it's so healing. i got teary eyed when i visited the small shrine (the shrine in the Pokemon game) behind the owner's house once i checked out because i felt so blessed to meet with this family. A must stay if u wanna TRUE Japanese touch stay. We love the burger shop & local Japanese eatery recommended by Fujiwara san. it's very easy to drive around Lake Biwa, we love the ski resort recommended by Fujuwara san so much! it's fun & pretty with colorful flowers & cooling up there in Summer! U can even have a day trip from here to places in Northern Kyoto prefecture such as Ine, Amanohashidate, Miyama etc. You wil never regret staying here! I'll definitely stay here again if i'm visiting Kyoto in future! i cant say enough of the good thing about this stay, u must stay to believe me... Arigato Fujiwara san.

The trip to the bathroom during the night was somewhat difficult for us. The bedroom was on the upper floor in the lovely traditional Japanese house. The narrow stairway was challenging for us. There is ample room downstairs and perhaps owners would accommodate a request to put the bedding there.
