The outside spa area is this hotels jewel in the Crown, with great views of the castle and mountains in the distance. we experienced it on a Sunny Day so were able to lounge in the Sun and pop in and out of jacuzzi and swimming pool. In poor weather this is going to be a very different experience.

We stayed in Füssen for one night. We spent the next day visiting the castle. There were a lot of tourists, and the tickets for the castle were booked out. We came to show the kids, but probably wouldn’t have gone to the top if it was just my husband and I. Lots of overpriced gift shops, and very much geared for tourism…

Beautiful hiking trails. You can walk to town and Neuschwanstein if you are in good shape. Much better than trying to find parking. Beautiful views. I would recommend going late in the evening as there is not that many tourists.

It's in a fantastic location and is very peaceful and relaxing. There is a lot to see, not least the castles built by King Ludwig. There are also many lovely walks to take and it's ideal for cycling, as there are lots of cycle tracks. There are lots of superb hotels to chose from, all in good locations and plenty of good restaurants and cafes. The mountains around are beautiful, and one of them has a Tegelbahn (cable car) at the top of which is a very good restaurant and a place for people to hang glide down to the valley below. There are also lots of walks up there with amazing views. Schwangau is close to the town of Fussen, which is well worth a visit and is at the border with Austria. There is also a lake, Forggensee, where there are regular boat trips.

Perfect location for visiting the castles and for hiking.
Perfect location for visiting the castles and for hiking. Gorgeous scenery. We enjoyed a walk to the lake in the evening at the sunset. Getting around Schwangau is easy both by car and by public transport.

The hotel room was clean, and my room had a balcony that had a wonderful view of the mountains. They have a parking lot as well if you drive in. Everything in town is about a 10 minute journey in every direction whether it’s downtown to restaurants, to the castles, or the lakes. We had a family room and the accomodation was very spacious, immaculate, warm and cosy, the beds were the most comfortable we've slept in and we had a stunning view of the two castles. We ate at the restaurant for dinner and breakfast and both were very good. In particular the apple strudel dessert and the eggs for breakfast. My only regret is we didn't book for longer!
