The swimming pool was great! You do need to pay for it, but totally worth it! Staff was nice and helpful. Big rooms and a good bed. Location was great, very quiet compared to other parts of the city. Breakfast buffet was good, it was not big but there were different things like bread, yoghurt, pizza breads, pancakes, milk etc.

FAQs about hotels in Catania

A Perfect Combination of Ancient and Modern

Located on Sicily’s eastern coast, at the foot of Mount Etna, Catania is the island’s second largest city. This charming destination features unique Sicilian Baroque architecture, large squares, avenues and a very important port.

On the northern side of the Cathedral Square, the historical Palazzo degli Elefanti houses the Town Hall of Catania. The Elephant Fountain is the city’s symbol and the entrance to the main shopping area. Surrounded by stunning Baroque buildings, Piazza del Duomo is a popular meeting point for tourists and locals.

Dedicated to Saint Agata and built over the Roman Baths of Achilles, the Duomo has an impressive facade that is one of Gia Battista Vaccarini’s masterpieces. The cathedral’s dome dates to 1802, while in the vaulted interior is the grave of the well-known composer Vincenzo Bellini.

Facing the Ionian Sea, this beautiful seaside place is one the hottest Italian cities during the summer. Mount Etna is an active volcano and a nice place for skiing in winter or a trip to the solidified rivers of lava during the rest of the year.

With the busiest airport in Sicily, Catania-Fontanarossa Airport, Catania is easily accessible by numerous European destinations like Munich, Rome and London. You can stay in one of the Catania hotels, guest houses or hostels Booking.com offers.

Catania was the last day of a 2 week Sicily tour, and was a disappointment. There seemed to be no pride in the city at all, and very little history on show. Accepting that you can’t make style out of nothing, we wished we’d spent our last day elsewhere! Even yhe bus tour revealed little of visual interest. The hotel was booked for an early flight out on Monday, and was very clean and tidy, with a balcony view of Etna. We would stay again if flying in to Etna, but be aware the 1.6m taxi ride was 30 euros.

There is so much to see I wished we could have stayed for 3-4 days but not in summer. Already in the beginning of June it was hot. I really dislike the amount of trash everywhere and the smell of cars as well as the fact that there are so many cars in the city center.

Catania - it's up to the part of the city.

Catania - it's up to the part of the city. City center and port are not very astonishing, building in reconstruction, closed shops and trash on the street, especially during easter holidays when many places were closed. The parks and monuments ok, good location for excursions to Etna, Taormina, Siracusa and not far from the airport. Nice restaurants, good food but not all options for breakfast were open. We got to the beach by bus as it seemd to be impossible on foot due to industrial and port area.

The historical center of Catania; nice and relatively well maintained, with the Cathedral and the elephant fountain. The renowned fish market; a bit chaotic and not well maintained. Strolling through via dei Crociferi to enjoying the beautiful Sicilian baroque architecture. Finally relaxing a bit at the villa Bellini. Excursion to the Etna, not to be missed!

The apartment was very clean and comfortable, with an excellent kitchen, bathroom and living area. It is located very close to the markets and restaurants. Two supermarkets were located just in front of the apartment. The location is also close to a bus terminal with connections to/from the airport and to other towns around Sicily. This is a great place to stay for exploring Catania and the surrounding area. Alberto was very nice and helpful. He was rather good in english so it was very easy to communicate with him.

A lovely hotel at the best location in the city. The concept of the hotel of rooms themed based on movies made in Sicily add an extra angle to the stay. The movie of your room theme is available to watch, and is the perfect way to relax after a long walk in the city. what can I say about my stay first the location is extremly good if some one need to travel by bus from Catania airport the bus stop is infront of the hotel just you need to cross the street. The room was comfort with all you need even the bathroom larger then the normal hotels. The staff is so helpful any thing you need and ask they are quite ready to help you. The hotel is clean and quite I tought that as its in the heart of via Etnea at night will be a little bit noisy but I never heard any noise at all.

Also a good base to explore the eastern part of Sicily, Catania, Taormina, Siracusa, Mt Etna, or just to spend a day lingering at the pool. An excellent stay in a historic building, complete with an archway of lava rock from Etna in the room. Celso and the team were so accommodating and welcoming. The room was in the center of the city, yet off the beaten path enough to be private and quiet, in the middle of bustling Catania. Breakfast was delicious, as is the restaurant downstairs. An excellent start to a long trip on the road in Sicily.

The flat was absolutly luxury with air-conditioning, kitchen tools, kind interior, tidiness, charming terrace and guidelines to the city. The owners every day helped us with nice tips. I transitioned from train to airport in about 14 hours. The hotel was a good place for a quick stay but not recommend for multiple overnight since movement of people make it noisy and bothersome. At least they didn’t have locals staying at place. Because they get travelers on vacation I feel it made it safer. There are elements on the fringes in Catania that I don’t want to meet.
