Simple, clean and comfortable room. The host, Claire, was wonderful - great communication and she went out of her way to help me out during my stay (providing advice on local activities, storing bags, drying some wet clothes). Breakfast was excellent.

A 4-start boutique hotel with an award-winning restaurant set in the beautiful Towy Valley at the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park, surrounded by castles, country houses and the National... We love dinner at the restaurant. It was the highlight of the stay. Food and service were fantastic. The room was great.

The Castle Hotel has a shared lounge, restaurant, a bar and water sports facilities in Talgarth. Breakfast was basic continental: cereal, toast, a croissant on one day, yogurt. Fine. There's as restaurant too, that does mainly fish and chips, that sort of thing. Not gourmet, but cheap and pleasant. The location was fine--Talgarth is a very small town, and you could easily walk anywhere from the hotel. It's on a somewhat busy road, but at night it's very quiet. The owners, twin brothers, are exceptionally helpful and friendly. Obviously at this price you don't expect luxury--but it's quite excellent value. I would certainly return.
