Conveniently placed on the A272 in the middle of Sussex countryside, this historic 5-star country inn encapsulates a balance between modern sensibility and rustic charm. Staff went above and beyond to ensure my visit was all it could be. I arrived without a car, thinking that taxis would be available for local runs, only to find that they weren't. Halfway Bridge staff very kindly took me into Petworth and picked me up at the end of the day. I was extremely grateful - and having enjoyed a lovely stay in every way, will return - although next time, I will hire a car!

The Hampshire Hog offers beautiful rooms, delicious local food and Fuller's award-winning ales all just a few miles from Portsmouth. Very clean, cozy, quiet and friendly hotel. Very friendly people. Safe and private parking which was great for our bikes. Nice to have a drink and dinner in the adjacent pub. Loved the atmosphere. Breakfast was really good as well. We recommend this!

Norfolk Arms Hotel is 10 minutes from the coast at Littlehampton. Under the battlements of Arundel Castle, the historical hotel has rooms with period features. Surcharge parking is available on site. Location (located literally in the hearth of the city), Christmas decorations (especially given the size of the hotel), special rooms next to parking lot (so that you could overlook/access your car from the room quickly), etc.

The Nest Hotel & Restaurant has a shared lounge, terrace, a restaurant and bar in Petersfield. We stayed in the Wren room, which had the best bathtub I think I have every enjoyed. The inn keepers were extraordinarily friendly and made us feel right at home. The Nest is conveniently located a short distance from the South Downs Way.
